remember, I'm on a Mac

Hey- anyone know how to install downloaded photoshop brushes and/or textures and/or "action kits"? The sites I'm downloading from seem to agree they're compatible with my Mac OS and my Photoshop 5.5, but once I get them unzipped and downloaded I don't know where to put them, or how to access/use them from within Photoshop.

Any tips? Like, starting with which folder I have to drag them into and concluding where I check my brushes palatte or my textures dialog box and they're just, um, there?

You are wise, almighty internet. I implore you. Help?

No, sadly, I can't figure out how to get textures where I can load them. I also can't find or use borders. I'll have to learn more about my mac photoshop, is what.

Thanks so much for your help!

I don't know if this is any help, but you could always try loading them as actual images and then using them as layers, using the eraser tool to get rid of the parts you don't need.

Borders is easy. Either
Apple+A, --> Edit menu --->stroke puts a border round whatever you apple+Aed,

or else under (IIRC because I am not at home) one of the later drop down menus with Modify, and border is in that.

Hmm.. I've got Photoshop 7 on my Mac, and all that stuff is in the presets folder. If I remember right, with 5.5 you have to load in the extra textures and brushes--on the CD, there's a file called "goodies" with all the brushes and textures, etc., but you can probably just make any old file and put it in your photoshop folder, then put the textures in that folder, then go to: Filter > Texture > Texturizer > Load Texture, which should give you a menu to hunt for your new textures... I think. It's been a while!
