Well, meta, for sure. But for practical purposes, what does it say? I mean. Aside from ascention, we haven't seen anything that the Ancients have done that exceeds the power that the Federation has. Hand phasers, life sign detectors, deep-space sensors, force shields. Sure, new and fancy to US, exciting to us humans here in 2005, which includes the humans who went off to Atlantis. But really nothing much further BEYOND what Star Trek folks can achieve.
And then, as I said before, the Wraith exist as a mortal enemy to the Ancients the same way the Enterprise or Voyager can only hope to win a BATTLE against the Borg, but never the war.
And I'll tell you what else. If the Federation got to the point where, say, the Borg had decimated most of the galaxy and they were left huddling at Starfleet Headquarters with their shields, I could anticipate a similar end to the Federation to what we saw when the outnumbered, deadlocked Ancients were trapped by the Wraith in Atlantis.
