what I really love is the beginning -- the paragraph about Abby at sea is just so stunning in a way that's different from the way you're usually stunning, and then how it doubles back (I do love a non-linear structure), and the spot-on opening exchange. then the rest of it, mapping out the anatomy of an apocalypse, is very satisfying too. and heartbreaking, throwing the characters into the middle of that, their moments of tragedy and their moments of adorableness. but it's the boat that makes it all sparkly.
