Melissa met Russell tonight

I was on this "thirtysomething" listserv about a year ago and this guy, this great guy offered to dub the entire series in order for us. I lucked out, first on the tape tree. got episodes 1-16, and I hadn't seem 'em since college, since 1995 or 1996 or something, when somehow I lost the mess of tapes I'd made the first forty times the series stripped on Lifetime.

it's back on Bravo now and I hate Candace Bushnell, but my "thirtysomething" is BACK, my Steadmans and Westons, my Ellyn and Gary and my MELISSA, who met Russell tonight. Gary met Susannah, and he's already at Race St. and Hope's already pregnant with Leo. Nancy's not diagnosed yet and she's still separated and I don't know HOW I missed it all, everything that happened between episode 16 and NOW, TONIGHT, somewhere in season three. "We're not judging you," Hope says. "I mean, it's 1989!"

my feet hurt. R left, but not before we finally figured out what goes on on Staten Island. I walked the length of Manhattan today, plus some other boroughs too, and I'm exhausted and my feet hurt but my "thirtysomething" is back, and Melissa met Russell tonight, and he said, "I didn't want to disagree with you, because there's that thing when you just meet somebody and you agree on everything."

because Melissa wants to have a baby with Gary and Russell will wake up in bed with Peter, later, the first gay couple to show up in bed together on network TV.

but it's about new friends, and old ones too, and people I haven't seen since 1995, or 1989, and Jo, it was bound to happen, because you were doing Santa Barbara so it just meant it was coming up on about time.

and R was here all week and we had a great time and Shana helped me and we went out and stayed in and ran around and did all the things we were supposed to, and it wasn't near as scary as I thought it might be.

so I'm just now, only just now re-finding my Melissa and my NYC and my sister, who's back from Brazil, and this is something, this is like what it was when I was here last, when I lived here and this was where I lived.

And Melissa and Gary aren't pregnant, and I am NOT, NOT, NOT ready for Shana to go. Don't go!

"we already brought up two kids," Melissa's saying now, and Gary outside on his bike, and it's autumn in Philadelphia which puts us somewhere early in season three. over there, it's the beginning of something.

I really don't want Shana to go!
