they want their secretaries, they want their power lunches

The Can Do Woman people were crazy, our conversation went like this:

woman: how much are you looking for?
me: I was getting around 60k last time I was a producer.
woman: we can't offer more than 35, don't waste my time.

*click*

which is probably better. I probably would have taken 35k. I probably would have hated it.

today I met the advertising people, famed in story and song. fabulous SOHO office, natch. my agent said, "that's why we sent you! didn't you think the office looked like you?"

heh.

the interview was decidedly unclear, I was talking to an assistant HR woman who wanted four different resumes and didn't seem clear on what position she wanted me for, or if they had positions available at all. she mentioned something about a "2nd Assistant Travel Coordinator" that I didn't quite comprehend -- something I'd be terrible at, to be sure, but I wore a skirt and carried a matching bag and altogether put on a good show, I figure.

And it's 75k/a. like Ouisa Kittridge, I keep telling myself. Seventy Five Thousand Dollars, Seventy Five Thousand Dollars.

until then, I'll keep proofreading for Shana, keep the windows flung open because it's lovely out, keep working on this K/Du that's stuck in the mire like Artax.

I know tomorrow you'll find better things...

75K for a 2nd Assistant Travel Coordinator? Dear sweet jebuslug in heaven. I can call the travel agent too, you know. Sheesh. New York.

For 75K, I'd teach the dog to call the travel agencies. Go you!

"Hello, this is Emily, where do you want to go today?"

I'm glad those women showed their flakiness early. That a "run, Forrest, run" situation if I ever saw one.

Flakes. FLAKES, is say.
