seriously. No, seriously

The Onion: [A Shattered Nation Longs to Care about Stupid Bullshit Again]

seriously!

I am so, so so so so tired. I'm going to a Dar Williams concert tonight at the Beacon, trying to stay awake long enough to give her a hug after, and then I'm stumbling back downtown and going to bed again.

I miss my insomnia!

In other news, I'm rereading the Phillip Pullman books again, you know, The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. I can't really express how good these books are. I mean, good, life, religion, faith, peace, understanding, war, passion, magic, adventure, love, insight-of-a-thousand-genius-minds good.

then again, I've had a yen to start reading Richard Bach again. for whatever that's worth.

did I ever tell you about the Dar Williams / Joan Baez duet I found off Napster? You're Aging Well? Great stuff. Lovers of alt-country in the world unite! me.

Dar/Joan

That duet is off a great Joan Baez album called "Ring Them Bells", where Joan sings with lots of other cool women. "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right" with the Indigo Girls, "Diamonds and Rust" with Mary Chapin-Carpenter, "The Sparrow Song" with Mimi Farina, "Jesse" with Janis Ian. Highly recommended. Plus, it's the CD that turned me onto Dar. I knew that anyone who wrote "You're Aging Well" was worth a listen.

I'm just popping in to say, oh, the Onion, how I love thee. Fantastic fun there, every week. And you deserve some fantastic fun. Cheers!
