this is merely the post where I take my Yuletide overcoat off

Yuletide's a gold mine this year and I haven't read a lick of it save what were writ for me, namely, Zombies & Incest (An Average Day), which is a hilarious Green Wing romp starring Mac, Guy, Caroline, Sue White, Boyce, Alan, eye shadow, and yer mom, written by [livejournal.com profile] latropita. Tropie, it's a pleasure to meet you, and thank you for this nugget of awesome!

Me, I finally filled a lifelong fantasy and wrote thirtysomething fic. Have a look, if you miss those yuppies from Philly the way I did:

The Thousand Nights and One Night, ~4000 words, Michael, Gary, Melissa, PG.

I just woke up and I have promises to keep and miles to go and socks to put on and so forth. Do me a favor? Please rec me your favorite Yuletide fics that you think I'd like, in fandoms I like, like MASH and Slings & Arrows and various others, here in the comments? I tried to go back and scan LJ for the week I was gone, but I was so overwhelmed I went back to sleep for a day. Plus I can't weed through all that mythology and RPS and random vampire novel trilogies and historical fiction and whatnot. Why? Because I'm lazy and spastic, that's why.

Happy 2008, everyone! It's officially an Election Year; that's something. Also a leap year, also a favorite year, also a year of living dangerously. One month from today I turn 32 years old. Put that in yer pipe and smoke it, universe!

Pretty much every Slings and Arrows story posted this year is worth reading.

I did 3 yuletide rec posts, here, here and here -- tons of sitcom stuff there, including MASH.

oh you malign historical fiction. also some RPF was grand this year. but you and I vary sadly in taste. I requested teen girl romance and English detectives. :)

I cannot believe you are 32. that is pretty fab. I'll be 34 and very very mature.

Oh man. I looked for Green Wing stuff, too, but as I am a total n00b to Yuletide I did not find anything. That story is completely fucking brilliant.

Do read Luna's Those That Play Your Kings (S&A) at the earliest opportunity.

Also, and all your girlfriends are unfulfilled and alienated (Black Books), one of several good Black Books stories this year (which also included the present I got, The Cable Guys, in which aliens make Bernard and Manny do it, sort of).

(Also, since you're wisely not reading through skip=a million on your flist: The MASH and S&A stories that [livejournal.com profile] likethesun2 posted in the last two days are among my favorite Yuletide stories of the year except for the small detail of their not having actually been written for Yuletide.)

the slings and arrows stories are SUPERB

Nifty - I turn 21 one month from yesterday! Wait, are you counting a month as 30 days or 31 days or... or... I'm confusing myself. My birthday is January 31st, in any case. And yay we can be close birthday/Aquarius buddies! *G*
