I'll take "things that are miserable" for 500, Alex

1. Waking up to find a fine smattering of feathers on your bed and shoulder and hip means your cat has eaten a bird on you sometime during the night. *re-shudders*

2. Rec me your favorite House/Wilson stories? My only prerequisite is that House is not cuddly and doesn't, at any time, go off his meds or stop being in chronic pain.

ETA: two more things...

3. Yuletide signups are open! I'm going to do a proper pimp post someday soon, explaining how this event goes beyond fandom as we know it and becomes more of a public service to the internet world as well as wish-fulfillment for people who might not even know they like fanfic.

4. Does the House ep "Cane and Able" make anyone else cry like a great big girl?

ETA one more thing...

5. [livejournal.com profile] sophia_helix and [livejournal.com profile] general_jinjur, thanks for all the healing and buffs! A PSA: never be a half-elf cleric. She can't use ANYTHING.

I wish I knew some House/Wilson of that ilk to rec to you :( I don't even know of the ones that DO have cuddly!House or non-med or non-pained House.

I did read a zombie apocalypse story with House/Wilson a while back, that I remember liking despite not knowing who the heck they were. (but I have no idea who the author is or where I read it)

My ears perked up at the mention of a House/Wilson zombie apocafic, and I was briefly (but wrongly, as it turns out) certain that I'd seen it on the election avoidance comm formerly known as la_la_la_2004 and recently renamed [livejournal.com profile] ostrich_2008.

However, even though I struck out on H/W, poking back through the zombie fics posted during the 2004 election was still more than worthwhile because it led me to reread The Reverse of the Hammock by [livejournal.com profile] jonquil, which in my opinion is both the best zombie fic and the best Master and Commander fic ever written. It's no small compensation.

Re #2: Ooh! Ooh! I know this one! Although I only have one answer, and you probably already know it since it's been podficced (and brilliantly read, at that, by [livejournal.com profile] wihluta): A Modest Proposal by [livejournal.com profile] ignazwisdom. Starts during and then goes somewhat AU from the Tritter arc, to a different solution/conclusion. Great voices. Good Cuddy, too.

I haven't read her other House stories yet, but only because I've been saving them for when I get desperate and need a fix of something I can count on.

Afterthought: Eos ([livejournal.com profile] ducks_in_a_row) wrote some good, though short, House/Wilson when she first popped up on LJ a couple of years back. Since then she's branched out into Cuddy/House/Wilson, so I haven't been following her stuff as closely. If you poke around on her LJ, you might dig up some worthy nuggets of tasty goodness.

ETA: Holy crap, I can't believe I forgot the enormously brilliant and scarily talented [livejournal.com profile] agentotter. She has a few House fics, all short, either H/W or H&W. They're here.

You're my favorite cheerleader, Mal. ♥

Sab, you might not find AMP to your tastes--I am told that my House is cuddlier than a lot of people like him.

I've just been using Polyamorous Recs (http://www.bifictionalbedlam.slashcity.net/recs/). From that page, I'm very partial to [livejournal.com profile] astolat's Maryland (http://www.squidge.org/housefanfiction/archive/0/maryland.html) and Synchronicity (http://sam-storyteller.livejournal.com/92215.html) by [livejournal.com profile] sam_storyteller. I'd be delighted to have additional House/Wilson rec sources.

Also, sorry I didn't comment earlier, but I really enjoyed HUGE EGO SORRY. I've read it a couple of times and am loath to close its browser window.

Yuletide is what sucked me into finally liking fic after being on the fringes of LJ fandom for three years. This'll be my second year writing for it.

1. I think I just threw up a little in my mouth!
