I answered assuming we're referring both to online friends *and* off? 'cause I'm averaging...online tends to place me more at the average range. And like, I'm not really very smart if you're asking me to process linearly or in a forward logical manner; I tend to just be very confused in that case, and very "buh?" I think far quicker sideways and making intuitive leaps that I reverse engineer, which ::shrugs:: is not really the traditional method of being "smart" but it gets me to where I need to and far more quickly than if I'd attempted to think like I was taught.

I made a mistake and I'm admitting to it: I hadn't scanned all the way down my flist yet and therefor thought this poll was about the last poll, not the one before that. Because I'm average in my friendsgroup, that's for sure, not smarter than most.

I pretty much deliberately make sure I'm solidly average in my group of trusted friends. I want to hang around people who are like me, so I can talk without having to explain myself all the time, or dumb myself down, and so they can talk without having to do the same.

At work, I'm totally the smartest.

This is interesting. Sampling off LJ I'd expected you to get get ridiculously skewed results, but they're not loading as heavily as I'd expected.

I'm not sure what you're getting at with this poll - yeah, the overwhelming majority of people in the first poll said they were "one of the smartest," but you probably get widely different definitions of "friends" among the people who answered this poll. Some people probably included their LJ friends; some people probably didn't. Of those that didn't, well - it's no secret that much of fandom self-identifies as smarter than a lot of the people around them in real life. Of those that did, the problem is that you're not getting a sampling of everyone from the same friends group. They're probably all your friends, but half of them may not know the other half.
