the yuletide is high but I'm holding on
Dec. 26th, 2003 12:56 amOkay, so I went back and collected some actual titles, here's a first pass at Yuletide recs:
Great Mistake [Andromeda, Dylan/Rommie] Campy, impossible, funny, and somehow surprisingly seductive. I blame Lexa Doig.
Unspoken [The Bible, Judas/Jesus] Yeah, I was surprised too. But it's *beautiful.* And strange and innocent and curious. Touched with Jewish spirituality with a very refined hand. Read it, you'll see.
Planetfall [Firefly, Simon/Inara] Remarkable and crystalline and yummy. Like a spa. It's second person, with all of Inara's worldly-wonder and what happens to two outsiders, each so caught up in their separate lives and loves, easing into one another for some perfect glittering moments.
Leda, Mary, and the Rest [Joan of Arcadia, Grace] I love outsider POV, and Grace's perspective is totally enthralling. Grace gets a crush on god and has a spiritual awakening without being really aware of either of those things.
So Tonight That I Might Sleep [Jeremiah, Jeremiah/Markus] Nervous and questioning and sexy as hell. Where Markus is the boy with the weight of the world and still clueless in so many ways, and where Jeremiah's not sure what to do now that his quest is over.
Once and Future King [Twin Peaks, Cooper/Albert] Man, I miss this show! This story rings with absolute familiarity. Sounds just like Cooper, and the recorded snippets to Diane are totally right on. Cooper/Albert, dude, and so, so, SO damned good.
There are more that I can't remember or can't find, 'cause dude, there's like three HUNDRED of these things and my fingers are cold and my left eye has a serious left-eye headache happening in it.
But I am altogether brimming, as only a Jewish girl can brim, with the Christmas spirit.
