I'm sitting in my office waiting for the Blackberry guy to call to help set up my Blackberry, because there's zero work to be done and it's quiet as sin here, just a sea of black computers in the bullpen and all the office doors closed. Not a creature stirring at HBO, probably not till Monday.
So, seemed as good a time as any to play with the "random story" feature of Yuletide, and boy howdy some great stuff out there. Anyway, here's some more recs, with a bent toward stuff I haven't seen get rec'd all over the world.
The rest of my recs, and others from all y'all from the Internet, have been memoried here.
Express and Admirable [Superman/Batman (Clark/Bruce)] Um. This is just some really hot porny porn. In superhero suits. Wherein Batman is sexy as fuck.
The Galactic Miscellany [HGTTG, Ford/Dent] This is being rec'd to the gills, and rightly so. And I'm not even that big a Hitchhiker's geek, but this is just so damned funny. And plus with footnotes!
Ordinary Night [Evolution, Harry/Ira] Okay, and I can't even remember who these people were, in the movie, except that one of them's Duchovny and I think it's probably Ira. And I have no idea if there were slashy vibes between these boys, but I liked this story. It's sort of strangely absurd.
Reveil [Greek Mythology, Achilles/Patroclus] Or I'm just a slut for Trojan war sex. But this here is hot in the way foxhole fic is hot, with the original Greeks, the original band of brothers.
Pyrrhic Victory [The Aeneid] Quite possibly the only fic that can get away with epithets like, "the Etruscan said." Despite the fact that this one does err on the side of heavy adverb and epithet usage, what a smart, rich, worldly little piece. With hell and war and the fate of the empire for good measure.
José Cuervo, or How Will Bailey Stopped Worrying and Started Dating a Republican [West Wing, Will/Joe Quincy] Dude! Joshua Malina and Ms. Chanandler Bong! AND it's smart and funny and delicious and with Tequila in. And I know everyone's rec'd this, but I hadn't read it myself, I hadn't realized it was Joe Quincy, everyone's second-favorite Republican lawyer, along with Will being his usual bobcat in the sack. Genius, genius. Wherein they fight about politics and wiggle.
Elias Budd's Charming Widow [Firefly, Saffron] I'm just wild about Saffron. And upon watching my Firefly DVDs, I'm realizing this is seriously the girlslashiest show since...ever. The writing here is so spot-on neo-Western Firefly slang I couldn't pry the smile off my face. And this, this is just what it's like.
Control [7 Days, Parker/Donovan] Not a happy fun ball, but somehow satisfyingly gritty, and plays with what I always liked about this show; only Parker has to bear the weight of his history and everyone else gets a big do-over. Wherein Parker's stuck in a broken record.

Date: 2003-12-29 03:36 pm (UTC)I'm home from work. I'm going to make an icon now!
(LJ Spellcheck options for "Duchovny" include: Dutchman, Tachyon, Dishpan, and Touchdown. "Touchdown Duchovny" would be an awesome nickname for him.)

Did you make an icon?
