For me, the Buffy series embodies some of the best writing ever to grace the screen. It's a comedy, at the heart of it, it's a comedy but it's so laden with the truth of growing up, of becoming who you are in impossible circumstances, that it rings true on so many different levels. The writing is whip-crack good as are the performances.
I didn't pick it up until season 6 and then I went back and watched it all, as you've been doing. Season five is unbelievable, probably my favorite, with a tie only at season 3.
And Buffy/Giles in season seven? Yeah, I can see it. Now that they're apart. But secretly, I'm all about the Spuffy. I love me some Spike. He's my favorite; the original fool for love.
