May. 2nd, 2004 05:35 pmI'm sorry. I've noticed a distinct lack of Angeleno-type LJers commenting on the Local Weather. This is because we are all dead.
It's about a hundred and forty six degrees here. My hair dried while I was still IN the shower.
Dinner with
thassalia tonight! If you don't hear from either of us, it's because we've melted, so it's time to send in the troops with the spatulas to scrape us off the asphalt up on Franklin.

Date: 2004-05-02 07:02 pm (UTC)With heatwaves like that in early May you'd think the US would be more worried about global warming... Surely that can't be normal in spring, can it?
I don't think I've ever been anywhere this hot, I mean I felt absolutely awful when it was hot here last summer but it wasn't more that the low 100s in F, though inside my apartment it was warmer -- I'm directly under the roof with lots of sun exposure, no cross-ventilation and no a/c (apartments here don't have a/c's as a rule, because it used to be unnecessary, not to mention that of course a/c's don't exactly fit with energy saving efforts). And even with an a/c it must be hell on the electrical bill to get the temperature to something survivable with temperatures like that outside.
