o world!

This is the bit where, overcome with love for fandom in general, I shimmy to the top of the rope, fling an arm and shout o world! I cannot hold thee close enough! and then plummet to the ground and bang myself on the noggin for my overzealousness. Still. I love you!

Things I love: Jeremiah. Have now seen "Crossing Jordan" and will save my review of said until I've watched the rest of these DVDs, but suffice it to say I've never been happier to see a character be revealed as [spoiler] and then [spoiler] in my whole born days.

More things I love: [livejournal.com profile] logovo, who gave me the most adorable CLexy mug ever. L, for you, some of the complement of my party last night: [livejournal.com profile] qowf, [livejournal.com profile] thessalia (excuse me, [livejournal.com profile] thassalia), [livejournal.com profile] mischa, [livejournal.com profile] ropo, [livejournal.com profile] ptpatricia, [livejournal.com profile] lizlet. ([livejournal.com profile] prowler323, I missed you. Let's do something soon, eh?) (And M., apologies for not making it to SatC tonight, but I was, blessedly, asleep ALL DAY and BOY HOWDY did I ever need it.)

In other news, the Jeremiah theme song is growing on me.

Okay, that's a big lie. I fuckin' love it. I do. It, and [livejournal.com profile] killabeez, make me glad "fangirl" is a verb, because there ain't no other verb that'll do the job.

Things I want: a longer Ethernet cable, so I can talk to you from <<<< over there, namely, the bed. Because that's part of the reason we love Lennier the laptop, isn't it?

Time for more Jeremiah. I have other things to say on the subject of Escapade how do I love thee let me count the ways) and last night's escapade (see above), but I need this window for more hot Jeremiah action.

"Crossing Jordan"'s only drawback was the complete lack of Markus, so here I go, forging ahead in the hopes of spending more time with that hyperdramatic dimpled slashy boy wonder.

I believe.

Dateline: "Running on Empty," or, How My Love For Markus Knows No Bounds. With limited spoilers, for the sake of [livejournal.com profile] gwyn_r.

First, the thigh-holsters are sexy as fuck. Erin in that thing, goddamn. Markus in that thing, plus the turtleneck/vest combo I'm so fond of, goddamn redux.

Second, Mister Smith and Erin, genius, genius, I love it, I love it ever so.

Third, Markus's face when Jeremiah [spoiler], that sort of half-turned hard swallow and the irresistable blink of those inky eyes, and man does he ever wear the ubiquitous sexy forehead scar elegantly. (I have a theory that TV and movie heroes get one of two scrapes/scars, the sexy above-the-eye forehead scar or the sexy below-the-eye cheekbone scar. Markus got both, because he's Just That Tough, in his hyperintellectual doesn't-get-out-much way. Which brings us to:)

Fourth, "I think Meaghan would have wanted me to do this." And here's hoping for lots more Meaghan allusion in the future, as the Long Night of Jeremiah continues here at Casa del Sab.

Fifth, this show just gets better. Season 1 was more of a ripe-with-potential, uneven-writing, guilty-pleasure sort of business. Season 2, I think, might actually be good. Like, good TV on its own merits good. But don't quote me on that, as I am blinded with fangirlish obsession.

In case you're worried, I still love you all. Especially [livejournal.com profile] ropo, who is, somewhere in this great city of ours, also absurdly awake.

I had all sorts of things I'd intended to say, watching the last eight eps of Jeremiah tonight. I made all these little mental notes, about what a terrific ep "The Question" was, about how much I loved Mister Smith, about how the backrub scene brought me face-first against the fact that it turns out I'm only feeling the Markus/Erin love, and that I ain't a slasher in this fandom after all. Silly, silly me*. Oh I had all sorts of things to say, and then I got to "Interregnum, Part I" and I had heaps more to say, largely about how I'd just assumed from the beginning that Daniel was [spoiler] and was puzzled no end to see this come as a surprise to our intrepid crew, how much I adore Sims and his perpetual shaving and drawling Blue Ridge Mountains accent -- so many things to say but then "Interregnum, Part II" showed up and reduced all of my lucid media critique to: GUH

[*ETA: by way of [livejournal.com profile] morgandawn, Killa pointed out that the scene with Erin's all the proof we ever needed that Markus is gay as a kite. "There's always hope" my sweet patootie, says I. I had a crush on a gay boy in high school and was told, not unkindly, "you're barking up the wrong tree" and it sounded a hell of a lot like that. This being why my love affair with the Markus/Erin ship was so short-lived. Plus, you know, he's mine. *g*]

Followed soundly with a host of cat-scaring out-loud Holy Fucking Oh my GOD GUH and some maniacal arm-waving.

Jeremiah fandom? All six of you? Where are you when I need you? Where are you when I need to swoon and moan and holler to the four road high heavens a barbaric yawping fangirlish GUH!

This is a girl in love. with Markus IN LOVE with this show, I tell you.

There'll be time for lucid commentary later, as well as the more critical reflection that inevitably comes with time and recovery from the first blush of oh my LORD a DRESS uniform holy CRAP GUH and the sweeping knowledge that any hope any of us might have had for future fanfic in this fandom has been soundly scooped by JMS, and so gloriously!

Later time to reflect on how much better episodes are when they focus on Kurdy and Markus, how Jeremiah slunk into the sidelines with his own crusade and I like him so much better that way, how much I love Kurdy and want to write his biography when the time comes for him to retire, penniless and loved, like Ulysses S Grant. Later, time for all of that. For now, because it's as true for me as it was then, and because GUH-

"I wasn't asleep."

Oh. In totally unrelated news (despite the fact that I can't catch my breath and mostly I'm just bouncing going Markus Markus Markus) I meant to say --

[livejournal.com profile] septicemic, [livejournal.com profile] lizlet. I feel you two will get along, for some reason. I can't put my finger on it just yet. But, investigate.

Decontamination procedures don't work. We have to burn the bodies.

On Heroes (a tribute to [livejournal.com profile] elynross, who's not just for breakfast anymore)

E and K and T moderated the Heroes/Sidekicks panel at Escapade where we all tried very hard not to talk about Jeremiah. I no longer have that restriction, so hoist the sails and batten the hatches and so on, because Jeremiah is a very interesting example of the hero/peripheral character paradigm.

First, to catch up, as much for my own sake as anyone else's, the gals set off to investigave the phenomenon prevalent across fandom that leads a writer to gravitate toward the Spikes and Lexes and Blairs and Gabrielles of the world, and not the Clarks and Jims and Xenas. We took a poll, and seven folks in the room -- myself included -- were willing to admit to being hero aficionados (give me John J. Sheridan any day), while 22 fans raised their hands in defense of the sidekick/partner/anti-hero.
