bells and a siren
Mar. 15th, 2006 10:08 pmI think I have enough perspective now to be able to say with some assuredness that I miss the 90s. And that I liked that decade so much better than this one.
The Oughts, the Ooos have had a lot to offer, particularly in the way of artistic expression (read: good TV! good books too! good music!) that rears its head during wartime, but those Nineties, man. Arts, economy, education, that weird peacetime assured self-mocking security? I suspect we will remember them as roaring. How sad I am now to have wasted so much of them.
I'm watching Newsradio and Sports Night in extremis, two New York-based ensemble news-gathering shows set prior to 9/11 and with proud and prominent display of New York's twin towers in establishing footage.
This as brought to you by: I am experiencing a mild to moderate nervous breakdown as my shrink and I work to square away my medications and figure out why I am so deeply misanthropic. I'll keep you posted.
Call for the captain ashore, let me go home!
