ETA: An inquiry.

I'm always trawling about for new LJs to read, as my LJ attention is fickle and every time I develop a new interest all of a sudden I must go pounce on its aficionados. But fandom aside, through it all I like to read the LJs of smart folk. So if you wouldn't mind (and obviously I fully understand if you do, as it's sort of a loaded gun question) -- who do you find among the smartest? Of your LJ friends. Where "smart" is a straight-up "MAN she's smart, I never woulda thought of that, genius!" sort of thing.

Me, hm. I find [livejournal.com profile] tangleofthorns and [livejournal.com profile] coffee_and_ink (the artist formerly known as lj user melymbrosia) to be part of the Gifted and Talented set, totally. [livejournal.com profile] helenish too, in the same way a marvelously observant stand-up comic makes you go "holy FUCK, that is EXACTLY it, I've never had the words to describe that experience until now," you know? Of course there's [livejournal.com profile] inapickle and [livejournal.com profile] _swallow, who tell damned good stories and severiously know how to put words together.

But obviously, most of you are here because you're brainacs. So I very much want to hear your thoughts. Hell, I mean, you know there are LJs writers out there who are tiny geniuses. Tell me who they are?

Majority of Americans out of Touch with Mainstream

Absurdly funny.

Big shoutout to all my homies at Comic-Con, represent!

And I recently saw "Darmok and Jelad at Tanagra" which always makes me miss [livejournal.com profile] quasiradiant, to whom I send some love.

Also, last night I dreamed that [livejournal.com profile] projectjulie and I were the Harold and Kumar who go to White Castle, except, instead, we lived in Brooklyn with [livejournal.com profile] _swallow and managed a vintage clothing store that catered to drag queens. ([livejournal.com profile] projectjulie, meet [livejournal.com profile] _swallow, new transfer to Swat. [livejournal.com profile] _swallow, meet [livejournal.com profile] projectjulie, another sultry and jaded alum.)

aside from yourself, you mean? *g*

Well, you have all my usual suspects on your own friends list except one - [livejournal.com profile] rozk. A not so tiny genius.

This is my brain on [livejournal.com profile] hederahelix.

But also, you know. My friends: [livejournal.com profile] raybear and [livejournal.com profile] thebrownhornet. Hmm. I'll keep thinking on this. Even if I'm apparently not brainiac enough to make your cut. :)

You and Punk, Selena and Maayan, you are understood. You go without saying. You are, incontrovertably, my peeps.

I need to spend some time with Ray, is what.

I don't know anything about brains, but you should meet [livejournal.com profile] doqz. Word jazz. Read 'Ichabod'.

Maybe [livejournal.com profile] lisew 'Diluere', because she's exquisite. And [livejournal.com profile] mistful, 'Shadow and Flame'.

[livejournal.com profile] therealjae is pretty freakin' smart. But you knew that about her.

I have to think about this some more. Huh.

I always enjoy these journals

I like the posts of the folks on my flist (naturally), so I can't mention them all. But I heart them all.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] twistedchick has a great journal to read for its article links, politics, and topical subjects.

And I was surprised recently to realize her alterego is Kit Mason, slash writer: http://www.twistedchick.org/stories/index.htm

I had read her work and never made the connection with the lj persona.

[livejournal.com profile] ladysisyphus is so much smarter and cooler than me. It's just not fair. She likes comics. Thus, you like her.

I take it you're not going to Comic-Con, then?

Livejournal is stupid. As is morning.

But [livejournal.com profile] ladysisyphus is where it's at.

Well, there's [livejournal.com profile] infinitemonkeys, whom I think you know. She's top of the walk for smart & guaranteed to make me snorfle my tea in the morning. When she posts. Which isn't enough.

Smart and forcing me to think about things in a way that pushes the edge of my comfort zone? [livejournal.com profile] leadensky, no question. There's definitely something to be said for courteous disagreement that makes up find facts and ferret out our biases. Also, horses and good book recs.

Smart in the sense that she's probably the single most intelligent human being I'll ever meet unless maybe I have lunch with Stephen Hawking? [livejournal.com profile] stormrunner can write a 100,000 novel in 4 weeks and still kill you with her pinkie, while explaining quantum physics to you in words of two syllables or less.

The latest victim of my tendency to stalk people via LJ is [livejournal.com profile] troyswann, who is rapidly falling into Farscape. She's a painter and a teacher and a writer and funny funny funny. She writes prose equal to [livejournal.com profile] jeviltwin and [livejournal.com profile] _maayan, and makes me want to nibble her spicy brains on a regular basis. She mostly writes Stargate, but she's got two jaw-dropping Firefly stories out there.

And then there's that crazy [livejournal.com profile] sabine101, whose brain goes places I'd never imagine. *grin*

I was in your dream-- I'm deeply pleased! I was in your head! ::spooky noise::

[livejournal.com profile] sisabet is one of my favorite vidders ever; her entries, written with the inexplicably compelling style of willfully-slightly-broken English, are really charming.

[livejournal.com profile] witling is, I think, the best writer I know of currently in BtVS.

[livejournal.com profile] popfantastic is probably my biggest all-time LJ crush. I would like to be as elegant and intelligent and good a person as she is. A lot of her entries are friendslocked; she's not posting so often right now.

[livejournal.com profile] _dellamore is-- really cool also, but I have just realized I am going to miss my train if I keep writing this comment. So I will finish it later

Well, hi there! Apparently we live together in a parallel universe -- that's a cosmic connection if I ever heard one.

From: [identity profile] projectjulie.livejournal.com
Ah, but was it a dream? Or a prescient glimpse into a parallel universe where we all live in Brooklyn and eat White Castle burgers without getting sick and are surrounded by vintage clothes? I like to think that such an AU exists out there somewhere.

I had a dream about you a few weeks back. We were in a minivan, talking about, erm, I forget. But usually I don't remember my dreams *at all*.

Don't know that I've been around here long enough to find out my own tiny geniuses. Plus if I did I would probably ignore them because I'm here for the smut. Genius, oy, I get enough of that in RL -- the net is for pr0n. But [livejournal.com profile] cathexys is lovely and all over the meta like lube on a butt plug.

Because you are smarter: what does GIP stand for? Also ETA?

More sultry, less jaded. I will pop on over and say hi to [livejournal.com profile] _swallow. I have a wee crush on [livejournal.com profile] mazily -- so you should, you know, covertly drop hints to her about how sexy I am.

I think I have the dubious honor of being one of the few who can't be here because she's a braniac.

Someone who is: [livejournal.com profile] loneraven. She's fantastically talented and articulate and fannish, and she's just someone whom everyone should want to know. Because I SAID SO.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] lgamine is someone I met sort of indirectly through fandom a long time ago, and then she fell mostly out of the loop, I think. But she's smart as a whip and twice as funny.

From: [identity profile] gamesiplay.livejournal.com
It just occurred to me that the latter journal is now friends-locked, so yeah. It is, however, good. God is a cat in a box with uranium, apparently.

(Also, it just occurred to me that whips aren't even funny to begin with.)
