O world, I cannot hold thee close enough!

I got this from NaT: Sorry Everybody

Just click a number and scroll down. I've spent the night with these people. I haven't been so moved since September 13, 2001, when I was hiding in a bar on the Upper West Side scared outta my pants and came out for a smoke to signs plastered all over: You are not alone. Love, Fellow New Yorkers.

Dear world, we are so, so sorry we screwed you over. We're still fighting, we promise.

I know you do. And it's good to know, because the US-related news get scarier every day. Especially when you compare what's reported on CNN and what on our news channels about Fallujah, or events like that soldier shooting someone lying in a mosque in his blood already. It's like watching the old East German news and watching the West German news at the same time. That feeling of living of a disconnected reality.

It is scary and weird. I see a lot of different news sources at the same time. Bu now I am confused... the truth is out there somewhere in between. Meanwhile we live in Bushland and must find a way to survive four years. If we can mobilize the Democratic party and gte them to act as one(not likely but we can hope) they can block anything from going through congress with filibuster.

If we can moblize ourselves again, maybe we can take back congress in two years and make this lame ass a lame duck.

NaT's reformed, haven't you heard?

Well, maybe not entirely reformed :-), but she's definitely on the sane team now.

She's still friends with some of the tinhats, if that's what you mean, but she left DLR long ago because she couldn't deal with the insanity anymore, and she's become quite a close friend of mine. I guess she just doesn't really fit into the tinhat part of my head anymore.

What anon said - I'm with the Dutch guy on this! No point apologising, take action. Frustrate their fundie ways wherever you can. Stand up for your hard-won rights, don't just roll over and play dead - that wont help anyone.

You could start with the homophobe out in Texas, stopping the ol' traditional TWIRP day because it's like dabbling in drugs! WTF?

It *almost* makes me want a LJ account. Just for the ICON LURVE. Argh.

Sab - am glad you liked the link. Funny as I spent all of last night with a bottle of wine and their pictorial apologies again. Everyday so many more pages added and yes, reminds me of everyone just HOLDING us in NYC after 9/11. That whole sense of disreality, that "this cannot be happening" followed by a tiny whisper to a roar of "not alone, you are not alone, never alone."

I think perhaps those in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Sudan need to hear that now even more than we did then. Is that even possible? Sadly, I think so.

Big blue ball and we all live upon it. I wish that 51% of the voting American public had realized that. Anon - thank YOU for linking the apologies accepted - I hadn't seen.

Yes Cim, is still me, still THAT NAT. Am I a *reformed* tinhat? I don't know what that means. If it is defined as one who got sick and tired of the bashing of those that didn't follow the *party line* well then yeah, that's me and has been for quite a while now. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and that's fine - it is when those who choose to think outside of any given box end up getting vilified for it that peeves me. Yes, still have VERY GOOD friends that I met from the tinhat brigade. None of them wear crowns though. Thorny or otherwise.

Anyway. Isn't why I am here Babe. I actually popped on board that night to advise Sabine to lock her journal and avoid the crapfest that might come of it. Brave one doesn't care. Good for her :) Anyway, that's why I came. I continue to pop in every few just to see what is up in the DNC. Am at a loss to find a political direction these days, so many things askew. It's like trying to piss out a wildfire or toss bandaids into an ER. What to do FIRST? Prioritizing is paralyzing me.

The entire world seems to need triage.

Can drop more linkies please?? (if am imposing on your LJ Sabine, please just toss an email and will desist. Nat_for_nothin@hotmail.com or have Eso slap me around a bit ;)

Iraq. I've been completely bypassing news channels and going straight to the source. Many Iraqi bloggers out there and they link to each other so are easy to peruse. Most of it is horrifying, some of it is blissfully mundane. There's one 18 yr old out there that swings like a pendulum on a rollercoaster between protesting the invasion and waxing poetic on why every chick he meets falls for him in 5 minutes. So very reassuring to see that some semblance of normalcy can remain in the face of almost any tragedy. If you scroll back will find that not all were inherently anti-US. Some had very high hopes for the "liberation" and therefore have fallen even further in their despair.

Also dropping this over here. Specifically for American peeps (and am sure of course Canada - it appears to be a North American project he just isn't thinking that large yet). A brand new site with a rather radical yet wonderful pipedream of a massive show of solidarity towards MidEast peace. This man wants to span the US with marchers supporting peace between Israel & Palestine so that they too might know they too are not alone. The site (so far) seems to be completely non-partisan and that's what I like most about it.

Am in no way affiliated, but have signed on to help. He's going to need a LOT of assistance folks and is asking that anyone who gets the link PLEASE PLEASE share it with everyone they know. With Arafat gone and the Palestinian leadership in turmoil, now may be the best time to let them all know how important an issue Peace is to the Americans who bother to look beyond their own backyard. Spread the word. Please.

and lastly
*smooches the living hell out of Eso* Thanks for the lovely words. Unnecessary though, as people can (and thankfully often do) think what they will. I'll stand on the other side of the room so Cim doesn't catch my tinnie cooties. They itch you know? In rather strange places. Requiring the application of er... cream..... or lotion... or... ;) Anyway, Adore you dear!

And Sabine, keep up the good fight over at DNC. Please! Thanks for letting me rant political on your Live thingie.

Um there NOW am done. I am a verbose and rambling creature. Sad isn't it? Sorry :)

oh I need a new home?
