sab: (baffled king composing hallelujah)

I'm sitted, as Radar would say, diligently cross-legged on the bed, working on this freelance job and accidentally watching E.R. (oops.). I came across this meme by way of [livejournal.com profile] prillalar, McSwain!, and [livejournal.com profile] schuyler consequently, and having just swapped out a new batch of names and titles, I figured I'd adapt it for my purposes.

My journal used to be called Zero Runs Away because of the marvelous icon [livejournal.com profile] indilime made, and because there ain't one thing wrong with Khleo Thomas, Louis Sachar or Holes.
My journal used to be subtitled "Never eat hard candy alone," because that's what I was taught growing up, and it's just right good advice.
My friends page used to be called "there can always be new beginnings, even for people like us," which is Ivanova's final line in Babylon 5's final episode, and it's about the most hopeful thing I've ever heard.
My username was [livejournal.com profile] sabine101 for because that is whom I am.
My default userpic was:

made, as I said, by [livejournal.com profile] indilime // [livejournal.com profile] teh_indy, because it was.

Now, however, my journal is called "Everybody wants to pass as cats," from Counting Crows' "Mr. Jones," because we do, damn it. That, and Jubal Early, as seen in my new default icon, made by [livejournal.com profile] azuredflame. And Joss.
Now, my journal is subtitled "a journal by Sab" because I'm still chewing on the appropriate Alanis lyric that doesn't screw with the waffle of the Adam one. Soon it will be something else.
Now, my friends page is called "secrets wanna be famous like everyone else," because my very own Shox writes a hell of a song. Which I'll upload for you all to enjoy as soon as I get around to uploading.
And I'm still me, with this pic now:

made, y'know, by [livejournal.com profile] azuredflame.

Had a momentary lapse of reason, predominantly brought upon my the recent addition of the Internet to our household, but I'm all squared away now and ready to get back to writing this curriculum thingy.

Forgot to note -- last Sunday we had brunch in Hermosa Beach and then got the opportunity to scope out Chris's penthouse in daylight, and I made Jason teach me things and fucked around with the camera. I give you "Sunset over the Marina", where the pearlescent pool in the channel that so brightly reflects bobbleheaded palm trees is not, in fact, an aquamarine inlet of the Pacific but rather -- an open sewer.

She is bringing home cake! And I'm solidly, diligently, scuttling back to work.

But these are fun pics, Sab.

See you tonight? Maybe? hmmm? I'll buy beer in exchange for stories.

Great pics!

Wow! Would have never guessed that! But then, I shouldn't be surprised, working as I do for a utility company who boasts the largest "Land Application Wastewater Treatment System" in the world. There are like 9000 wooded acres of land in this system that carefully and methodically get 'misted' at measured intervals and in measured amounts with "reclaimed wastewater". Just looking at this land, one would think they had stumbled into a beautiful forest, teeming with flora and fauna. Great herds of majestic white-tail deer and flocks of beautiful wild turkeys roam freely over the land (no hunting except during special lottery drawn dnr hunts to control population), along with squirrels and rabbits and well, all kinds of other woodland creatures. Nope. You'd never guess all the lush greenery that supports all that wild-life was because they spray it daily with..."poopy-water". In case anyone is worried about this practice's impact on the environment, it's all EPD/EPA (CLOSELY!) regulated and scrutinized. Also, because the earth acts as a natural filter for the reclaimed wastewater, therefore requiring less chemical 'cleansing', the water downstream from where we are putting in, is actually CLEANER than the water upstream! It's a win-win situation.

She is bringing home cake!

*ties on napkin, picks up fork, waits for her piece!*

I admit, the first one with no people is my favorite. Not because I'm anti-social (though there's that, too) but because of the sheer aesthetic beauty. I [heart] asymmetrical close-foreground shots. Even if that is just an outdoor heater.

Plus. Pretty colors.

*bows* Thank you. That's the view from Chris's balcony -- on the far, far right, lost and tiny in the hills, is the HOLLYWOOD sign, and below that, our house.

Meanwhile, we missed you at the con in Burbank, and I convey everybody's love.

That's an open sewer? I would never have guessed they'd allow something so close to inhabited buildings! I like the light in the one third from the bottom, it makes the buildings and trees look shrouded in mystery.

Out of curiosity, what type of camera are you using? I love playing around with my camera, but people keep telling me it's time to come into the present and get a digital camera. So I'm taking recommendations.

Oh, don't get my camera. I have a Samsung Digimax and it's TERRIBLE. I recommend the Canon Elph, if only based on its sheer cuteness.

Sorry to butt in here, but just wanted to sort of second Sab's recommendation of a Canon. They recently bought one for me to use here at work (the day they first gave it to me, I didn't get much work done...but it's all their fault, after all ;p) (http://www.livejournal.com/users/cpsings4him/59670.html) - and I just LOVE it! It has all kinds of snazzy features and does effects and stuff (like sepia and black and white, etc.). It's a Canon PowerShot A60 (2.0 mega pixels) and it's even pretty wee! Aaaaannnnd..the BEST part...Wal-mart even has them on sale right now for under $200! I have one on my Christmas list. I'm very hopeful as I have been a very good girl this year. Hardly naughty at all. :)

OT, but I just read the new message from Kerry.

How wonderful is that! The man refuses to back down and wallow in 'failure'. Keeps on fighting the good fight.

He's introducing a Bill for children's health cover and wants ordinary Americans as co-sponsors. Would be awesome to see 54 million co-sponsors.

You are going to be so busy, girl! Go go go!
