Date: 2005-08-07 05:59 pm (UTC)it's typical of a psychologist to attribute such a phenomena to individual pathology rather than to a social apparatus. looking at this as a Foucauldian, it seems obvious that the school is a privileged site of subjectification and discipline, and that these processes are necessarily shot through with the erotics of power relations.
I'm also rather fond of Patty White's commentary (http://www.genders.org/g32/g32_jagose.html) on "[lesbian] intergenerational relationships – like the pedagogical" in classical cinema.
