No good excuses, except that I'm sick, and I'm stuck in a dead-end job at twelve bucks an hour, that I don't have a car, that I'm undermedicated and overworked, plagued by altruism, volunteering with a SECOND non-profit to do some Katrina aid work (benefit concert at Austin City Limits!), interviewing for jobs that ask ME if I've got a couple hundred thousand to invest in their company, and, sorry, it's pro bono, at least until the '06 elections, do I go back to commercial civilization? Do I abandon the Dems before the midterms? Do I abandon New Orleans to the arthritic hands of Brownie, yer doin great?

I am SO BROKE. I have never been this broke and also had a job.

Point being: I owe you everything, internet, and you owe me nothing; I've been a lousy friend, a terrible correspondant, got no excuses except that I swear I SWEAR I miss you more than you miss me -- you just lost one little Sab; me, I lost the whole damned INTERNET.

These are some cds that were part of my collection that was stolen a couple years ago. I'm trying to rebuild. If you have and can zip any of these albums and yousendthem or something, they'd feed my mortal soul.

I have Patty Griffin and I think I have The Eminem Show (or rather, I know I have the MP3s on my iPod, but I'm not sure if I have the original album or if I just downloaded it, in which case it was probably lost the Great External HD Crash of 2005). But my CD collection won't be unearthed until tomorrow at the earliest - we're heading to IKEA in the morning to buy shelving units so we actually have places to put everything. All of which is to say: if you still need Patty Griffin and possibly Eminem by tomorrow night, I can probably help you out.

Have been meaning to email you - we are ensconsed in our shiny new Hollywood apartment and are (slowly) attempting to get things put together. Still must call your... boss? co-worker? about getting set up with a job - I'll do that Wednesday or Thursday when we have hopefully made this place at least somewhat livable, or at least have a reasonable expectation of walking from one end to other without tripping over things.

We miss you and are mostly glad that you haven't dropped off the face of the earth (though that would be rather hard when we could just pop into Bron's journal and say, "How is that Sab doing, anyway?") but rather are being all humanitarian and stuff. Go you. I'm sorry for the job situation - you'll figure something out, I'm sure. At the very minimum all this altruism has to count for something in the larger scheme of things, yeah?
