Someone TOOK my identity! Someone TOOK it to VEGAS and withdrew MONEY! *MY* money!

Someone was in Vegas THIS WEEK accessing my bank account and using my ID. DUDE.

So, I stopped the thingy with the bank and they cancelled my thingy, and I went to the police and I have to fill out an affidavit and get it notarized and once again I am trapped in an insane feedback loop as the police can't file a claim without a photo ID, and, as those of you playing the home game know, I don't HAVE my ID because all I had to my name was the expired NY driver's license that was STOLEN, and in order to get a CA driver's license I have to go to COURT and pay all these THINGS and get a state-issued birth certificate and a passport and whatnot --

So as the quest for a driver's license enters its SECOND YEAR, the process becomes more desperate as somewhere out there someone has spent FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS of MY MONEY in Vegas (and would have taken much more had I not been so deeply broke -- apparently they tried subsequent times to withdraw increments of $400 only to be refused at the ATM...and charge me overdraft fees) and I don't even have a credit card with which to use to order the eight dollar credit report over the phone.

This message was brought to you with help from [livejournal.com profile] somedaybitch who reminded me, among other things, about the state-issued non-driver's photo ID that the DMV can ostensibly provide, [livejournal.com profile] sorlklewis who helped with, among other things, tacos and an offer to use her card to order the goddamned credit reports and birth certificats, and [livejournal.com profile] wearemany who is many, and who will represent for me at Bridge School while I sit here crying in my beer and filling out police reports.

Not to trivialize your pain...

...but I am sometimes faintly insulted by the fact that nobody has stolen my identity and then gone on to do something more interesting with their fake version of my life than I do with mine.

Maybe I watch too many reruns of Friends.
