(1) The Pegausus Galaxy is part of the galactic cluster in which our own galaxy, the Milky Way, is found. There is not, however, an actual galaxy with that name. Some have names, some have alphanumerical designations.

Basically, pick one, arbitrarily name it Pegasus, and go from there.

(2) Bates was written out. I'm guessing that in the Atlantisverse they sent him back through the gate when they could establish a wormhole back to earth with the ZPM brought by Colonel Sexypants.

I have it! But sadly she's only up to The Siege I, it seems, or at least that's the last ep we have Bates in. It doesn't say whether he's dead or gone or what, though.
