I seriously considered not owning up to having written this at all, but then it occurred to me I didn't want anyone else to be accidentally saddled with it. *g* Which is to say, for the [livejournal.com profile] remix_redux I wrote Blow it Down (the Straw House remix), which is a Doctor Who Rose/doppelRose sort of remix of a very lovely story by [livejournal.com profile] livii.

I love doing the remix and have been faithful to it every year (I think!), and I came into this one like gangbusters, but somehow the story didn't gel the way I wanted to, and I ended up with a finished product I wasn't terribly proud of (sorry, [livejournal.com profile] livii!). No comment on the quality of the original piece, of course, it's just that the idea I had for the remix was more effective in high-concept abstract than it turned out to be (clunky, top-heavy, handwavy) in the story itself.

But the biggest ups go to [livejournal.com profile] likethesun2, who wrote the hell out of my Slings & Arrows remix, and deserves to be lauded far and wide for it. Leigh, you were my second guess!

Now I'm writing again, which is good -- I made about eight paragraphs of Doctor/Martha mess in one doc, and now am attempting a whole new Doctor/Martha thingy. I also signed up for the Rose Tyler/Martha Jones ficathon (would provide link but am not on own computer and can't be arsed to go hunt it down) because this Rose/Martha thing is too hot to ignore. And when I feel my most capable (have had Intellibek in my Robeks, for example) I work at my Slings & Arrows Oliver/Geoffrey/Ellen OT3.

Actual good writing! That's something new we're gonna try for May, eh?

Oh, and my daemon is a raccoon now, want to go poke him?

Hmm. I don't know. It was lovely writing. You have such a light touch. It was probably too short for the concept - so you got stuck explaining the whole world in, like, one paragraph. But it was still beautifully written and I loved the sad dissolvingness and their instant connection and their laughter.

Rose is pretty.

Thanks! I think the beginning is sort of okay, but the whole thing where Etta is away from Rose shouldn't really be possible, and it's all very handwavy and way too short for what it's trying to do, yeah.

The sad dissolvingness was exactly why I wanted to write it, and the concept I thought was cool and creepy and with Etta being the Bad Wolf. But it just somehow didn't come out that way at all. Alas!
