Over the last three weeks, give or take, I've driven myself to a gravelly laryngitic drawl, but for [livejournal.com profile] amplificathon, it was totally worth it. Here's what I brought to the party.

As many of you know, I totally took this podfic-recording opportunity to do a little performance, so I have in all cases performed the fic, and in many/most cases attempted to do the whole range of character voices.

"In Vino Veritas" was probably the most physically challenging, because Londo growls and hollers like nobody's business, but in the end, rather than sounding like Sauron having a date with Dame Edna, I think I got pretty close to Londo and G'Kar.

"the hours between dawn and nothing" is my longest podfic, and also an emotional roller coaster. I cry in there, people. I still need to rerecord that second half; I tried to clean up the ambient crackling noise but it's not been effective. Still, this was my most ambitious podfic, and also happens to be one of the more beautiful stories in M*A*S*H fandom.

[livejournal.com profile] sophia_helix's "Nerd Alert" was one of the most fun. Bones! Ten! Um... pulling lever and pushing buttons! And [livejournal.com profile] hobsonphile's sweet Radar snippet was also short and lovely to record.

I also got a chance to do two remixes of my own stories, both of which in their respective one-two punches make the original pale in comparison to the brilliant remix. I recorded "O Lamentable Day!" and it's remix, by [livejournal.com profile] likethesun2, "The Brave Man with a Sword." First off, Darren Nichols is FUN to read. Second, Leigh's story kicks ass, takes names, makes me laugh and cry, and is a beacon in the night showing how a remix can lift the original straight out of the gutter.

The same is true with my "Savile Row" and [livejournal.com profile] eve11's "Threads." My original came in at 578 words, with some idiosyncratic sentences and phrasing. Eve took the word count, the sentences and the phrasing, and made a whole different, detailed, shockingly beautiful story.

And at the end of the day, the world needs more NCIS femslash, so I just dug into my treasury and busted out all the femslash I could find.
