Seriously, SERIOUSLY I don't know if I can take this election without Olbermann anchoring me it. [livejournal.com profile] notpoetry, what's the skinny? Peter Jennings got me through the first Bush election and Brian Williams got me through the second, and I need you, Keith!

Keith's apology for the 9/11 video was one of the most honest, human responses I've seen on the news lately. Isn't that exactly what we want in an anchor trying to negotiate a vitriolic election? You demote him to "commentator" and all of a sudden he's Michael Moore, and cast as the liberal flag waver. After that, it will be so so SO much harder to move him back into an impartial anchor position.

I AM NOT OKAY! [livejournal.com profile] notpoetry, fix this.

I can't fucking wait to see what Rachel has to say about this.

And I wonder, (sadly) freed from election coverage, will he be freer to speak his mind on his show? (He's not getting taken off his show, right?)

Yeah, and on the one had I look forward to a Keith who isn't forced to try to be impartial, and who can rage and rant about what's really going down, BUT, that effectively discredits what he has done so far as in this election an impartial anchor, AND will make it that much more difficult for him to be returned to an anchor spot.

And I LIKE/D him as an anchor! I think David Gregory is just going to make us cold, and sad, and alone!

See, this is why each time someone in the US uses the phrase "the liberal media" I wonder who the hell they're talking about. The US media to me appears to range from the mildly conservative to the right of Attila the Hun, and all but the satire programs kowtow to the goverment...

I'm just waiting for the softball questions Charlie Gibson is going to through Mrs. Palin. I agree -- it's like the media is so scared that their access will be cut off if they are "negative," that they bend over backwards to ignore the Republican lies/stupidity that are staring them in the face.

OH HONEY I WISH I COULD.

Sad but true: Keith decided to push for this himself.

He reminded everyone that the #1 rule of journalism is that the journalist only covers the story, never becomes it, and the instant he became the story, he had to step out.

So I can respect that. I'm just upset.

On the bright side, he will most certainly be there on election/debate nights, and may in fact be freer to voice his opinion since he'll be on as a "commentator."

On a semi-related note: Jesus fucking God in heaven I miss Tim Russert.
