I have seen multimedia projects in fandom: generally, stories with associated fanart or videos (SGA's Big Bang, for example, or the Artword community). I have seen stories told through photographs of action figures or paper dolls; I have seen a fic accompanied by very elaborate origami. I have seen videos of SG1 enacted entirely by screws (!). to me, that's multimedia....
