Happy Thanksgiving to all, from Casa del Sab and
ptpatricia and
_maayan. PTP made potatoes and turkey, I made my mother's renowned cranberry something with almonds, and M is standing by to feed the cats their fancy ocean fish feasts.
Then it's wine and funny cigarettes and probably more Homicide and Law and Order, because a holiday without police procedurals is no holiday at all.
Mom called from the family T-giving in Rhode Island where they all went around the table and said they were thankful for everything except the fact that I'm not there this year. I spoke to my sister and aunt and 92 year old grandfather and I can almost smell Aunt Margery's house, all brick and fresh New England air and all the cousins hedging when the aunts and uncles start to push for grandchildren. Five cousins and it's anybody's bet who'll come through first, but Poppa says he's holding on till he gets a great-grandkid, and we're all behind Poppa holding on forever.
I'm thankful for my big Jewish family back east, and my little surrogate family, here in this house with our books and turkey and cranberries and cats. And, of course, for my extended electronic family, which includes every last one of you.
