I'm sure this is TMI, but c'est la vie: I've been vomiting all day. Could be because I ate nothing yesterday but meringues, one never knows. But anyway I'm so super-ultra queasy AND I don't have any more Paxil so I'm having Paxil withdrawal queasy on TOP of the egg-based vomiting queasy. I have Saltines, rice, tea, and ginger ale and I'm not that psyched about any of them, except the ginger ale, which is *not* flat; does it need to be? Do I need to eat the food things? I really genuinely don't want to at all.

As usual, herbal, homeopathic, surgical or hypnotic remedies graciously received -- anyone know what to do about a case of vomiting?

Thank you.

try to eat some rice if you can, and stay on the clear fluids, because being undernourished and/or dehydrated exacerbates nausea and shakiness. and get some paxil, because yeah, those withdrawals are hell.

dramamine helps a lot with nausea, for me. also, get a washcloth wet with very cold water and put it on the back of your neck. and try putting pressure on your wrists (or getting those seasickness bands). though I've never tried them, ginger, lemon-water, almonds, and peppermint are supposed to be good natural remedies.

why do I know these things?

ginger is an acutal anti-emitic. If you can make yourself a drink by steeping grated ginger-root, that might well help. Ginger candies (sugared ginger) might help. Gingerale is sugary and gives you energy, so it a bit isn't bad. Stick to fluids if you're still vomiting. Drink as much water as you can, and try *very* watered down clear juice to get some nutrients in. Once you've stopped vomiting, clear fluids if your stomach is still wonky. That means juices you can see through w/out pulp, like filtered apple, white grape or cranberry, clear sodas w/out caffeine, jell-o, strained broth. If that stays down, try adding some rice to the rotation.

Gravol is good. If you can't keep it down, get a suppository. If vomiting is still going strong tomorrow, get someone to take you to a doctor. Dehydration is real and very serious risk, even for an adult.

I've taken care of lots of kids with tummy bugs when I was a babysitting uberkid, and grew up with a nurse mom.

Poor you with the vomiting! I have nothing helpful to say since ginger won't even soothe an upset stomach for me, but maybe it'll work for you. I hope it does. I still love Mordecai and his hat.

If you have actual ginger, like ground ginger, try adding some to the ginger ale. Most ginger ale, sadly, doesn't actually contain ginger, so while it helps, added ginger would help more.

If you can get your hands on some Gatorade or an electrolyte solution (like Pedialyte, even), that's a good thing, as it'll help keep you from getting dehydrated. If not, go for the ginger ale and salted crackers; it'll yield close to the same results.

If you're still vomiting after 24 hours, hie thee to a hospital. Your biggest danger is dehydration. You may need IV fluids. Also, they can probably hook you up with the Paxil if you can't get it elsewhere (and don't run out again!! Withdrawal royally sucks).

OdeSab. I feel your pain. I haven't been vomiting, but I have the queasiness going on, I do.

I have to admit I'm mostly clueless about vomiting (it's not a symptom I get often), I just wanted to say I hope you'll feel better soon. IIRC, my mom gave me sugary beverages (sweetened tea, flat sodas and such) and when I started to be able to keep food down zwieback (is zwieback even called zwieback in English?) featured prominently in the food selection, as well as mashed banana I think.

Oh, I hope the vomiting has stopped.

Yes, rice and saltines if you can stomach it. And I always like 7-Up better than ginger ale, but ginger ale is good too.

Hope you're feeling better. I hate to think of you vomiting.

I get migraines and have for over 10 years... I could write a book on vomiting.

I wish you weren't all the way in CA or I would bring you stuff :)

uh... could be gross, TMI or shit you all ready know.... so skip if you want

Personally when I am puking, I make it a point of remembering anything that I eat could make its way back up - gross but true. I would stay away from rice just cuz it gets suck in my throat coming back.

Toast is good but again if it comes back up it is like paste. But it is one of the things I have most luck with. That and a plain hamburger -something greasy - no clue why.

If you have a dr - companze, reglan or phenagren are good meds for nausea. If not, there is a liquid called Entrol (lemon or cherry - I would go with cherry) that they sale in the store for nausea. That is prolly misspelled but the pharmacist would know. It is like liquid sugar and for some reason works for a lot alot alot of people.

Do keep drinking liquids and try to eat a little something. Otherwise you could keep throwing up and it hurts more when there is nothing in your stomach. And try to keep your head level, if it lowers at an angle and you are just drinking liquid it will come out your nose. ick ick ick

I find it is best to take meds, right after if you can, and make sure you have everything you need near the couch or bed or wherever you are. Try not to move after you take something for as long as possible.

of course all this you might all ready know...

I hope you are feeling better. If not get better, like now.
