Jan. 16th, 2005 03:45 pmThe device manager claims the device is working properly. The latest driver is installed. The device SPINS. I cleaned my registry. I uninstalled and reinstalled my Secondary IDE, though I think that's where I'm losing control of my senses --
Bottom line: the DVD player does not play DVDs. Which is, you know, one of my favorite features of this device, moreso now since the Great LA Rainstorm of Ought-Five wiped out my actual, um, free-standing DVD player.
You put a DVD in this drive, you launch PowerDVD or whathaveyou, and the thingy says: "no disc in drive d:"
Please, please, PLEASE help me? PLEASE? I'm on AIM as anoniongirl, a flailing, desperate onion girl.

ETA: Great minds have conspired and consulted to provide me the following diagnostic: my drive is broken.
So, someday, I need to get another internal DVD-ROM drive for a laptop. Preliminary research indicates that buying internal peripherals for laptops is not as easy as you'd hope.
And, yes, G! The rain that rained in my house thoroughly soak-ed and demolish-ed our DVD player. *sniff*
