I'm sorry, did everybody read Quiet Life by [livejournal.com profile] marylane23 and somehow I just missed it, or have we all been living under this rock together since, well, okay, the tenth of July?

Seriously, I'm broken. GOD DAMMIT I FORGOT THIS HAPPENS! It's been a really long time since I was in love with anyone, you know, impossibly fictional, and then there's people who write this dangerous, dark, killer fic, and IT HURTS! GOD DAMMIT I FORGOT! I am so cranky. Next I'm gonna be writing poetry, forgetting to eat, and doodling "Doctor" on my spiral notebooks. GOD DAMMIT.

This story, "Quiet Life," is an AU that spoils through/spins off from "The Impossible Planet"/"The Satan Pit." The AU, the horrible, awful, heartwrending one, and here it is in 5000 words or less. The writing's taut, spare, and conversational; the emotional blows are subtle and sudden. And while her Doctor and the one I see are not precisely the same, this is unquestionably the Doctor, a 900 year old Time Lord with an anachronistically boyish grin and a limitless capacity for change.

My huge thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] svilleficrecs for pointing me to this story, which now all of you must go read. I'll be over here, collapsing under the weight of my own obsessive tendencies.

While there is an extraordinary amount of bad, disturbingly vanilla smut in this fandom, there's also some really great stuff. Glad I could be of service, and I hope you find some other favorites. ;)

Seriously, that is, like, the best fanfic ever. And when you get to the end of the series, you must also read her post-Doomsday fic. Sniffle.

I've lapped past Doomsday thrice, coming up on four times through when [livejournal.com profile] fmangel gets there, tonight or tomorrow. *g* HOWEVER, I did not know that writer had more to offer, so I'll go track that down immediately and without pause.

Thanks, Anonymous.

Wow. Just Wow.

I'm suddenly very glad for my habit of checking out the journals of my reviewers.

I'm in awe of your praise and so very appreciative, though I'm sorry to have apparently caused you such an extreme amount of pain and emotional heartbreak! How will abuse my newfound power over you in the future?

I'm thrilled that something I wrote elicited such a reaction, honestly. Thank you, I'm glad to have you reading.
