I'm transcribing the lyrics to Veda Hille's "Rhapsody," a song I fell in love with over three years ago when
sloganeer gave it to me. No place on the internet has the lyrics yet, so I'm unlocking this post to let any googlers at it. Hi, googlers, do drop a note!
Wind lift my bones
Their eyes only just above the tracks
jump on my boys back
He hit rock with stick
Through my body, thick with growing things
Walk over old wings
Hey, no princess and hero here, my brother
in my dreams we annoy each other
slap me on the head and say, "take care,"
I say, "it's fine," wondering
Can I bear the place our pasts will take us?
He is blind, arms held in kind of holy pose
I stop myself, the pattern shows
I try to know the gifts I bring into this thing
without a name, we play the almost game
Hey, no princess and hero here, my brother
in my dreams we annoy each other
slap me on the head and say, "take care,"
I say, "it's fine," wondering
Can I bear the place our pasts will take us?
We circle each other in this gravel parking lot
Our bodies soldered, our minds in fearful thought
There is ancestry behind our kisses
Whose crimes are we?
Who brought these dead animals to lay at our backs?
Who can wake the wildcat?
Tell me how are you going to be with me?
Hey, no princess and hero here, my brother
in my dreams we annoy each other
slap me on the head and say, "take care,"
I say, "it's fine," wondering
Can I bear the place our pasts will take us?
The skin he knows is paper, the hand he holds is mine
The film is in his camera, can I keep myself this time? X6 or so.
Fast along the strange highway, music throws my life away
My smile grows uncontrollably,
With you I've been the truth in me
Fast along the strange highway, music throws my life away
My smile grows uncontrollably,
With you I've been the truth in me X3 or so.
