Okay, so since today is podfic day, if YOU have anything you want me to record, just toss me a link and I am all over it. Let's say nothing more than like 5000 words, in Doctor Who, SGA, NCIS, Torchwood, Bones, House, Slings & Arrows, and, you know, try me.

I mean, feel free to suggest some of your favorite stories by other folk (esp if you've secured permission), but mostly just go ahead and pimp yourself -- throw me a link and I'll like it!

I like doing Ziva best, I have learned, but my Jenny and Gibbs are also surprisingly not bad! I do a pretty good Radar and Margaret, and my Tenth Doctor, I swear, is getting better. I can't do Welsh, but can do Canadian, American South, NY, etc. Stories with people with distinctive voices particularly welcomed! I have completely lost the ability to do the Sorkin voices, but I'm practicing and will probably get it back. I used to do a mean Josh and Leo.

Let me podfic you!

ETA: are your stories fair game for us to record?

Yay! Not yet. That requires going out of the house. Tomorrow's a better day for that.

And I will totally record something of yours if you pick out one you like for me?

It's all here, but since you're doing the challenge, perhaps you should give this one a go. It might be the least bad (it was even recced!), and it's a small fandom (Jekyll), for more points, probably.

Oooh, Jekyll! I'm on it!

Oh, man. I have secretly always wanted to be podficced. Um. If you have the time and the inclination, and if you don't mind doing first person and epistolary, and if it's not too weirdly circular to record a remix of one of your own stories... "The Brave Man With a Sword"? Or, you know, anything here.

I would offer to do one of yours in return, but I suck at voices. I can read exposition just fine, but dialogue freaks me out, it's too much like acting. *g*

Actually I think it will be fun to read all that Darren, so here I go!

Say, do you want to be credited as Epigone or likethesun2? And is it Epigone like Antigone, or Epigone like Eponine?

Date: 2008-05-25 08:51 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] likethesun2.livejournal.com
AWESOME. I am so dorkily excited.

likethesun2 is probably better, just because that links the story with the journal. For reference, though, "epigone" is technically pronounced like Eponine (EP-i-gon), but in my head it always sounds like Antigone (eh-PI-gon-ee). So who knows.

Ta da! http://community.livejournal.com/amplificathon/71580.html

I uploaded my fic as well as your remix, you know, for completeness's sake. *g* Please let me know if my Darren voice is sufficient.

xoxo

!!! I've listened to "O Lamentable Day!" and am only about a minute into "Brave Man," but I looove you. You make it sound funny. Also, you do all the foreign language bits right, which is something that I sure wouldn't be able to do myself.

(Oh, and I think your Darren voice is hilarious. Also, that snatch of Geoffrey voice we got in your story was really very good; it sounded like him.)

Thank you so much! I'm enjoying this so much I keep pausing, just to make it last longer. *big nerd*

Hah! Let me tell you, that one Geoffrey line I got was so satisfying. Now I want to record more things with Geoffrey in! Particularly being baffled and incredulous.

I think that is an outstanding plan.

Okay, having finished listening, possibly the best part of that entire recording: the impeccable arch Darren-ness of the direct address at the beginning of every letter. GEOFFrey. God, every time I heard it I started laughing.

Also, the fact that you did a Southern accent for the Cat on a Hot Tin Roof line.

YOU ARE MY FAVORITE ON THE INTERNET.

YAY!

I also tried to punch the "I hate the Polish" lines at the end of each letter, because I LOVE them, especially the last two. This story, in case I forgot to mention, is so awesome.

I did stumble around with some of the Polish and German there (I think my German has a Spanish accent!) but I just powered on through. *g*

I need to watch like a whole season of WW (season 2, natch) before I can do it, though I'll totally do [livejournal.com profile] pene's story, that one or one of her other gorgeous stories.

I have one of Punk's CJ fics lined up for my first foray into Sorkin... watch this space!

hmmm. I like to think it would have been the same story had I written it for someone else. But who knows. I do remember fretting about writing Ainsley for you. But then loving it.

Whatever you record, please let us know, because I'm going to have about 30 hours worth of airplane travel time to fill in the next few weeks!

I have wished someone would record this one, but I suppose I should write the last chapter first :}

Finish it and I'll record it! And yes, I'll post all my links and you should totally pack your ipod full of awesome podfic for your trip. I'm already saving up for my summer trip to London.

Hmmm, I am intrigued, in large part because I've hardly listened to any audiobooks and thus am unfamiliar with the medium. If anything from my fic tag interests you, I would love to hear your take. (It might be easier to just look at the fic tags on my main journal page.)

If you felt like tackling fifteen different voices in an ensemble Office fic, Borneo is probably the best bet and I would enjoy hearing someone outside my own head reading Jim's voicemail messages. Otherwise, maybe an incredibly brief Bones+10 ficlet would suit your tastes.

I'm not sure if anything is in one of your fandoms in addition to being a recordable length, plus, uh, a lot of it is porn. So no worries if it's not a match.

Date: 2008-05-26 02:16 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] iamsab.livejournal.com
I'm gonna go browse around now! And I'm not confident enough in my Office voices to commit to that one, but I am going to TRY because a full-cast ensemble would be so much fun.

Also, porn is fine! I mean, if it's porn I like. *g*

I've been thinking a *lot* about podfics lately. Like I'm about to start begging people for them. Is your day of podfic over? If it's not perhaps you'd like to do Who Can Turn The World On With Her Smile? or Chicks Dig Scars? *blinks hopefully*

Date: 2008-05-26 02:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] iamsab.livejournal.com
I'm on it. I'm doing Chicks Dig Scars because it has Keller in it, and I love her and her giant head and adorable voice! But it might not be till tomorrow.

Dante, something trying to pretend something something, and Penny laid a finger on his lips!

GIRAFFE UNDERPANTS.

I still sound kiwi.

Wait! I almost remembered it again! Dante, with gleeful determination not to let his something something, started to say more, but Penny laid a finger on his lips.

Or maybe it wasn't gleeful? If only we remembered where we GOT it from.

that's extraordinary. I can't remember any of it. Least of all the accent.

I'm feeling that I wouldn't really like to listen to podfics with you because... I don't know... it's always too long since we've talked or something. or maybe because. I mean imagine if I read a Farscape fic on tape. It would be weird I think.

But, heh, I probably would find it mostly hilarious. Oh my word she's so American! etcetc. memories, like the corners of my mind... or is it light the corners of my mind?

Date: 2008-05-26 07:28 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] iamsab.livejournal.com
Hah! Yeah, I totally know what you mean. I mean, I don't think it would ultimately be that disturbing but it'd be weird to hear your voice without actually talking to you, or something.

Then again, if you read a Farscape fic on tape, I would clearly call you on the telephone, and then promptly go listen to it. *g*
