So here I am at Rite Aid getting some bottled water and plum-colored lipliner, and I go to check out, and who should be there right beside me poking through the batteries and lightbulbs but Zachary Quinto.

And with akukorax in mind, I strolled up to him and said, "hey. My friend Rachel would kill me if I didn't get a picture. Is that okay?"

And he said, "sure, as long as you're in it too!"





(it's not a bad picture if you ignore the blurriness and the fact that it looks like he's wearing my hair)

"I'm Zach," he said, shaking my hand.

"Yeah, I had a feeling," I said. "Emily."

He was charming, snarky and funny, and happy to talk to me. Gorgeous in person, all eyebrows and biceps. A sweetheart. But I still don't watch Heroes.

So I said, yeah, Rachel and I are helping each other out with our respective celebrity crushes.

"Oh yeah?" he said. "Who's yours?"

"Oh, he's the new Doctor Who," I said. "His name's David Tennant."

Zach thought for a minute. "I don't think I've met him, but if I do I'll totally tell him about you."

"Tell him Emily is awesome," I say, pointing two thumbs at self. "I'm going to see him do Hamlet at the RSC this summer," I said.

"Wow!" he said. "That is so cool. Have a good time!"

I told him I would. He said, "that sounds like a great trip. You can visit Shakespeare's house!"

I agreed I could.

Then I said, "actually, listen. This is ridiculous, but I'm going to give you my number in case you ever meet David Tennant."

And I wrote "Emily &hearts s David Tennant" and my # on the back of some random person's business card I found in my wallet. He looked at it, laughed, and said, "I will absolutely give this to David Tennant if I meet him."

Then I said, "you know, it's kind of ridiculous, me coming up to you to ask about another celeb."

"It's certainly the first time," he agreed. "It's kind of cool."

I agreed. "You won't forget me, anyhow," I said.

He told me he was on his way to the set to shoot ep 4 of Heroes. That there's a full 25 ep season next year. I told him I didn't watch Heroes, sorry. He snickered. I told him I was psyched for Star Trek. He told me that he LOVED working on Star Trek and that Leonard Nimoy was awesome.

Then we parted ways and I promptly called trinityofone because I didn't have akukorax's number.

akukorax, this Bud's for you. You owe me one!



Sometimes even *I* don't know what the fuck is up with me. But in times like these, I don't actually mind being a freak. It helps.

At this point, ropobop, I have not seen you in, I'm gonna say, FOUR YEARS.

We have no -- aside from our individual lazinesses -- excuse!

I cannot come Friday! I'm going to a screening of "Serenity." I can never remember if Fo works Friday nights, but it's a possibility. Or not.

It hasn't been FOUR years. I'm sure of it. *g*
