hey, I need an opening line. Any opening line will do. I'll take a bunch, if you've got 'em. I'm collecting.

Which is to say, I'm stalled at the beginning of this X-Files (yes, yes, I know) story I want to start. Start me off. We're in Scully POV, if that helps, but this opening line can be in any tense, any POV, any person, any time, anywhere. kickstart.

more is better than less. Write me a line. write me several lines. extrapolate off other people's lines. Prizes will be awarded, in the competitive style of "Whose Line is it, Anyway?"

On rainy days, the basement smelled of must instead of might, of things that should be instead of things that weren't. On nice days it was her prison but when the sky was dark and the occasional D.C. snow was deep, it had the initmacy of the confessional, stale with sins only thought of but punished anyways.
