you think you know, but you have no idea
Jan. 16th, 2003 05:11 amA meme, from me. The MTV Diary of memes. To combine all the other memes.
Pick six people on your Friends list -- three that you don't know very well, three that you do, and say three things about them. If you see yourself on someone's list, good cue to get on in the game. *g* And I'll be interested to see how well we know these people that we know from LJ-land.
I say...
gamesiplay
-is too smart for her own good, but will get her shit together and get into a great college anyway
-understands why "Everything will be all right, everything will be all right" is heartwrenching and fatalistic ad infinitum
-understands why sometimes we leave the best parts of ourselves on the battlefield in Korea
prowler323
-humbles me with his strength and ability to avoid temptation
-astounds me with his ability to have a hell of a good time in the meanwhile
-has taught me a lot about the place for faith in a gay relationship, and me being an athiestic jew dating a Christian, he has been more than enlightening
chr0me_kitten
-reads some great books, and knows how to talk about them. I want in on her book list.
-makes me look deeper and try harder to keep up with her astute political analysis, even if we're just trying to kick Cheney in the balls for our own amusement
-mastered that geek/cool thing way better than most people I know, and has become a diva in her own right, without letting go of any of the old geek charm. You can come to a party at my house any time, girl.
furies
-should know how much I love her
-should know how strong and brilliant she is
-is always thinking, even controversially, even when she's just sitting there, quietly. She knows more than we know she knows. I would not at all be surprised if she were to become President.
helenish
-is, like Mary Tyler Moore, gonna make it after all, despite some shitty circumstances
-doesn't need to be stuck in Jersey and should come visit more
-is flexing her writing muscles and will some day blow us all out of the water
ropo
-needs to own the hours she's awake, rather than wishing that she were sleeping like a "normal person." (needs to realize there are no "normal people")
-is younger and stronger than she thinks she is, and totally able to pick up and start again at the drop of a hat
-is more talented than any of us really have had the chance to see, and just because each day keeps happening on and on like this doesn't mean it's going to be. At least I hope not. One day it'll be different and then look out.

//Ropo:

Well, yes, I do know that, for the most part. But part of wishing to be awake at the hours most other people are awake is that I need to be more social, go outside more, that kind of thing. Like, Trix and her mom are going for lovely walks around noon, and I'm SO asleep then. And I could really use the walks. I'm not wanting to be a conformist, so much, or normal. But I do need to be a little less solitary.
//-is younger and stronger than she thinks she is, and totally able to pick up and start again at the drop of a hat//
I'm down with picking up, starting again, and dropping of hats. But I don't think I'm that young. Not by Hollywood standards. I'm so past middle-age for someone wanting to break back into the business on a creative level. They likes their kids young, they do. And at the *moment* I'm not strong. Which doesn't mean I'm not strong in general. But all this depression and sleep deprivation really saps the strength. But I don't feel that old or weak, not really, not inside.
//-is more talented than any of us really have had the chance to see, and just because each day keeps happening on and on like this doesn't mean it's going to be. At least I hope not. One day it'll be different and then look out.//
This, I so agree with. Sadly, I'm a lazy talent. But I'm not untalented. And I do have hopes that my laziness and untapped talent-showing will indeed change. The sooner the better.

Date: 2003-01-16 12:13 pm (UTC)As for the second two -- God, you have no idea how neat it is to find another person who understands both those things.
I'm going to have to try to do this meme over the weekend.
